is torture considered a "traditional value"?

This post on a conservative blog asks Christians to question support of torture and other questionable tactics in the war on terror. I can't add any more to it - this Presbyterian minister pretty much sums it up.

nbc says "no" to god in their cartoons

Any parents out there will recognize these two sharp looking guys. It's Bob and Larry from VeggieTales fame. I must have seen these videos a million times. Our foster son can't get enough of them. He is never interested in TV - until we pop a VeggieTales DVD in. Then, this 18 month old will sit still for 30 minutes glued to the colorful animation and catchy songs.

I was excited when I heard that VeggieTales was coming to TV. A new series will soon be airing on NBC and will make Bob and Larry mainstream. What a great opportunity to bring moral messages and a positive outlook on Christian themes to kids.

And then I read this

Apparently, NBC has decided that Christian values and language should be stripped from the show - including the infamous tagline "God made you special - and He loves you very much."

OK - I'm going to go a bit "wacky right-wing evangelical" on you right now. I think this really stinks. When I see the kind of crud NBC parades onto the airwaves daily, I hardly think it's fair.

My question is - why even pick up Veggie Tales if you want to strip all the biblical concepts from it? That's what has made the videos successful. Hopefully, this new move will reach some kids who would never see a "christian" video. But I think it's a sad commentary when NBC decides that "God" is a dirty word.

jesus camp trailer

This is a trailer for the new documentary Jesus Camp. It's...ummm...scary? It seems a bit like a terrorist training camp or a Hitler Youth documentary. What's especially chilling is all the war language coupled with the leader's apparent respect for the way Islamic group indoctrinate their young people.
